William Rhoades, son of Pastor William Rhoades Jr. and Barbara, grew up in a family with 8 siblings. Billy learned much about the provision of God through the ministry of his parents and those lessons continue to be an influence on others through his teaching and sermons.
Pastor Billy (as he is affectionately known) has a variety of skills and accomplishments, including having made two record albums and singing at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. He was a substitute teacher in the Colonial School District, New Castle, DE and a basketball coach (boys and girls) for several years at William Penn High School in New Castle. Pastor Billy also ministered as Chaplain of the New Castle County Detention Center in Wilmington, DE. For five years.
After graduating from Valley Forge Christian College Pastor Billy served as the Youth Pastor at First Assembly of God, Havre De Grace, Maryland for two years. A licensed and ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, Pastor Billy traveled as an Evangelist for two years, holding revival meetings in several states. From 1987 to 1997 he served as the pastor of Faith Assembly of God, Newark, Delaware.
During an extremely difficult time, Pastor Billy thought he had lost everything, but God had a plan for his life and through others reaching out to him, he started attending the Fountain of Life Center in 1997. Pastor Billy now serves there as an Associate Pastor, preaches often and leads the Singles Ministry. At Life Center Academy he is the Chaplain, physical education teacher and Senior Bible study teacher and the girls’ basketball coach. He was recently inducted into the Valley Forge Christian College Basketball Hall of Fame.
In Pastor Billy’s words, he says, “I have learned that no matter what you do, God forgives. I’ve been set free from my past and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.” Good words for all of us to remember. |
